TLO was founded in 1996 by a team of optimistic and experienced educationalists. From small beginnings, the company has built an international reputation for its comprehensive training programmes and down-to-earth publications for schools. TLO's central interest is in stimulating best practice in developing learning schools. We originate, adapt, select and combine effective ideas and techniques into clearly-focused training programmes and publications.
TLO is committed to turning the rhetoric of lifelong learning into reality, by fostering individual and team learning, and harnessing these to create sustained organisational learning and success.

Our publications are based on the premise that busy educationalists want well designed, plain-speaking books and manuals that offer practical suggestions on how to approach today's leadership, management and teaching challenges.
Our distinctive books and manuals are built on sound theory, which is brought to life through tried and tested application in schools.
Our current publications range from short, single-topic handbooks for team leaders to 100-page resource manuals on aspects of school improvement. |

Our training programmes aim to help education leaders, managers and teachers make sense of their increasingly complex and demanding roles.
The Bridge programme for senior managers is based on the values and principles of the internationally regarded Investors in People Standard. The programme addresses the characteristics of learning organisations and offers a framework for school self-improvement whilst helping schools achieve Investor in People status.
The central importance of team leaders in a learning organisation is reflected in our training programme Leading Learners. The programme addresses the skills and attributes needed for leading high- performing teams; it helps middle managers (team leaders) to add leadership qualities to their management capabilities.
The new national focus on learning to learn is reflected in our support programme Building Learning Power. The programme explores the key learning behaviours students need to become better learners and offers teachers practical support in developing students' learning power.
